Supplemental Services

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

•   The Speech Pathology Group (SPG) is a state-approved CEU provider and offers seminars and workshops throughout the year on current issues and cost-effective practices relating to the provision of school-based speech and language services. Appropriate district staff may attend free of charge and receive CEUs toward professional growth or license renewal. When requested, SPG will also provide CEUs for district sponsored in-services, which relate to the Speech & Language Pathology field.

•   SPG staff is available to present teacher trainings on "Response to Intervention (RTI) programs", "Why Collaboration Works", "Speech-Language Disorders: Adverse Effects on Behaviors and Educational Performance" and many more.

ADMINISTRATIVE:

•   Supervision of SPG Therapists: Each SPG employee is assigned a clinical supervisor for program and site-related support. District administrators have easy accessibility to the assigned SPG clinical supervisor for collaborative planning of site-based activities, staff in-services, and to address questions or concerns. SPG's knowledgeable clinical supervisors have a combined total of over 60 years of public school experience and understand the challenges that many teachers face when working with communicatively impaired students. SPG supervisors have completed all required supervision courses as mandated by the California Speech-Language Audiology Board.

•   Supervision of Clinical Fellows and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs)

•   Quality Assurance Reviews of SPG Therapists by School Staff: To insure that SPG therapists are performing up to our high standards and expectations, performance review questionnaires are distributed to relevant staff members and administrators from the therapist's assigned site. Responses are sent to the district's Director of Special Education at the end of each school year.
